Frequently asked questions

If you are considering an Oliwer Oakes watch and have questions about movements, durability, sizing or checkout, you may find the answer below. If not, feel free to reach out via email and we’ll be glad to help.

Watches & movements

What is an automatic watch?

An automatic watch is powered by a mechanical movement that winds itself as you move your wrist. There is no battery – a rotor inside the watch stores energy in a mainspring, keeping time as long as the watch is worn or kept in motion.

Are Oliwer Oakes watches suitable for everyday wear?

Yes. Each watch is designed as an everyday companion: comfortable on the wrist, easy to read at a glance and robust enough for daily life, whether you are commuting, travelling or off-duty.

What makes your watches Scandinavian?

Scandinavian design values simplicity, proportion and restraint. Our watches follow those ideas with calm dial layouts, neutral tones and details that are there to serve the wearer – not to shout for attention.

Fit, care & checkout

Do you size the bracelet before shipping?

Yes. If you share your wrist circumference when ordering, we can size the bracelet before shipping so the watch is ready to wear when it arrives. Any removed links are included in the box for future adjustments.

How should I care for my watch?

Avoid exposing the watch to strong magnets or extreme temperatures, and rinse it in fresh water after contact with saltwater. Have the seals and movement checked periodically if you wear it daily. A little care goes a long way in keeping a mechanical watch healthy.

Why do you use Stripe for checkout?

We use Stripe so that payments are handled by a dedicated, globally trusted provider. Your card details never touch our servers – they are sent directly to Stripe over an encrypted connection and processed in a PCI-certified environment.

You don’t need a Stripe account to pay. You simply choose your card or wallet, complete the secure form, and Stripe handles the rest in the background. That keeps checkout fast, familiar and safe, while letting us focus on making the watches.
